I moved to Italy 25 years ago and never left. I now photograph weddings for couples from the UK, the US and across Europe who are doing what I once did — choosing a place where the most important day of their life unfolds.

Knowing this country deeply changes how I photograph it: I know when the light hits the cypress trees, which Lake Como villa has the chaos behind the scenes, and how to talk to a Sicilian nonna who wants to feed everyone before the ceremony.

Maaike was our photographer for our wedding in Assisi, Italy. We are based in London, but Maaike very much put us at ease with the clear communications in the lead up, as well as on the day. We opted for Maaike as we wanted something more natural and less intrusive,and were left very comfortable on the day of our wedding (and a few hours during the welcome party the day before).

The sneak peek photos were very prompt, and we loved the whole album, as did our families. They did a fantastic job and we could not recommend them enough.

Yes. Based in Italy, I regularly photograph weddings and elopements across Italy and am available across Europe for destination celebrations.

Most couples book 9–18 months in advance, especially for popular months like May, June and September. If you’re planning on a shorter timeline, do still reach out — I may have availability.

Absolutely. Many of my couples are planning their wedding or elopement from abroad. I’m used to working across time zones and guiding you through the process in a way that feels easy and relaxed.

Planning your wedding from afar?

I work with couples who often haven’t seen their venue in person. From your first email to the final gallery, you’ll have someone in Italy who answers in your language, knows your venue, and makes sure nothing about the day feels foreign except the wine.
